I look back to this time last year, and find the outlook is very different for 2022. I’m sure we are all grateful for this new hope!
I feel more invigorated looking through the 2022 windscreen, rather than the 2021 rearview mirror!
2022 has started with a bang – no pun intended. The fire on New Year’s day at the Parliamentary precinct may set a negative tone for the first part of the year, but there is a lot to look forward to. With a bit of luck, the Disaster Management Act will be repealed soon as more scientific data around the less dangerous nature of the Omicron virus is confirmed, if this is the case. This could be the tail-end of the COVID-19 pandemic!
There are too many to mention, but the really significant political events this year, which will define the political landscape, and therefore the SA economy, will be the imminent release of the Zondo report into State capture and the ANC’s elective conference at the end of the year. Watch this space!
At FPM, we return to the office with the hope that soon we have a full team back together. We look forward to reconnecting with all of our clients, and making sure that their financial affairs and planning in every respect, remain on track.
