Discovery Health have announced their rates and benefits for 2019. This is a summary of the key points.

The latest date for plan changes by e-mail or telephonically is 14 December, 2018, and via the website 31 December, 2018.
The rate increase is:
This increase is in line with other medical aids and includes 1% for the increase in VAT.
A new KeyCare plan – called KeyCare Start – has been launched for anyone with income under R9,150 pm at a monthly premium rate of Member R839, Adult Dependent R839 and child R505.
This plan helps to maintain affordability for access to quality healthcare for people with a lower income.
Medical Aid Benefit Changes
Oncology Care Programme – will be enhanced for members with cancer, providing unlimited cover for defined treatment and access to innovative oncological medicines.
New care programmes – for members. These are Cardio Care, Mental Health Care and Diabetes Care. These programmes are accessed through the Premier Plus GP Network and are funded from risk.
New Discovery Day Surgery Network – for a defined list of procedures carried out in this network, members will be covered in full. If carried out outside the network there will be a co-payment or deductible.
Med-Express – introduced as the Designated Service Provider from 1 April, 2019 for medicine on the Priority and Saver plans. Dis-Chem and Clicks are included in the Med-Express network.
