Retirement can seem a long way off and there can be other things to worry about first before we think about retirement, so we procrastinate and avoid taking a realistic look at our own financial future.

How often have we said, “I have debt, my kids’ education, my new car, a bigger house etc. etc. comes first, and I still have plenty of time…”? But time passes quickly and the years slip by before we realise how little time we have left to plan and save.

Very few South Africans save enough for retirement. Only about 1 in 20 of us will live comfortably in retirement and most of us will not have enough to make ends meet.

This means that we will have to keep on working or depend on our family or the State. Is that really what you want?

The facts are:

  • If you live to the age of 65 there is a very good chance you will still be alive at age 85. Life expectancy is going up.
  • You will more than likely work and earn an income for 40 years, but will need an income for another 20 years or more.
  • You probably need at least twelve times your annual salary saved to give you 75% of your salary at retirement.

We can help you to be in the 1 in 20 individuals that are comfortable in retirement by taking a realistic look at your current budget and debt management. Then together, we can develop a workable retirement plan, tailored for you.
